Learn how to manage stress with these 5 effective strategies.
Stress leads to 90% of the chronic diseases we suffer from in the modern world. Its everywhere. We all have to deal with it as the world gets faster, crazier, and more competitive. How do we interface with stress?
1) Plan Your Day: Organize Your Priorities
Your emails, your calls, around the office or home…all of these come secondary to what you declared you were going to do this morning. Most of us claim we want to get things done but then allow other people’s business to interfere with our own. Learning to do our stuff first helps us get things done and move forward in life.
2) Keep Your Blood Sugar Stable
Most of us can’t manage stress well because our blood sugar is on a rollercoaster all day. This keeps our body out of balance and generates a low level of anxiety throughout the day. Eat healthy snacks every 2-3 hours and avoid sugar altogether.
3) The Caffeine Connection
Most of us have poor blood sugar management which leads us to reach for the coffee which then jacks our adrenals even more. People with taxed adrenals never feel at ease and are constantly dealing with higher stress levels. Instead of reaching for the coffee, do a 5 minute meditation, a quick walk, or even a 15 minute rest/nap.
4) Take the Time to Breathe
Lower abdominal breathing can really make a difference. It puts us into the parasympathetic “rest and digest” mode which pulls us out of “fight or flight”. This is the quickest way to manage stress and is safe, easy, and free. Why so many pills people?
5) Toxic Body = Toxic Mind
When our systems are dealing with inflammation in the gut and toxic burdens in the cells, it leads to inflammation throughout the body. Once this happens, the brain gets agitated. We don’t feel well. We are not at ease. Detoxifying and pulling the garbage out can make us feel great and turn things around in a matter of days.
